BCP Family Weekly Updates: Tuesday, December 3rd 2023 (DAY 5)

Dear Families,

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed their well-deserved rest and relaxation with family and friends. The BCP family would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way positively to our community in 2022! We are very grateful for such a strong and supportive community. Take some time in 2023 to make positive connections with your teachers and to let them know that you support them. Start a direct dialogue and be weary of any side talk! We will encourage our staff to do the same. Raising children is not getting any easier and it's all the more important that we work side-by-side and stay on the same page with those people who care most about our youth.                                                  Updates and Important Information

1) Comprehensive School Health Team Meeting: Members of the CSH Team should be present after school Wednesday, December 4th 2023 at 3pm. The meeting is to solidify planning for 2023. We as any members of the Student Leadership team to please try and attend. 

2) Cash Lottery Draw: This Friday, January 6th 2023 will be our Cash Lottery Draw! Let's see who is the big winner of the $5000.00, $500.00. and $50.00 prizes. Students will receive their payouts for selling tickets during the following week(s).

3) Carbonear Winter Classic: Our Sr. Boys Basketball team will be participating in the Carbonear Winter Classic Tournament running from Thursday, December 5th 2023 to Sunday, December 8th 2023. The team plays 5pm and Thursday and 5pm on Friday. See facebook for the full schedule. 

4) Tutoring for Tuition (Students): Any tutors for tuition students must pass in their log sheets to Mr. Saxby or notify Mr. Saxby that they have not logged any hours before the end of the week Friday, December 6th 2023.  Connect with Mr. Saxby with any questions/concerns. 

5) Ronald McDonald House: BCP staff, students and families are invited to bring in their pop pull tabs and place them in the bucket near the lobby. Baccalieu Collegiate will again be collecting pull tabs in support of the Ronald McDonald House. Last year we collected over 3 X 18.5 litre bottles full. Let's beat that number this year! 

6) Assessment Support Calendar: Please do your best to add assessments to our Assessment Support Calendar. This calendar is shared on our www.baccalieucollegiate.ca site for both students and families to see and support their organization. Additionally, give our IRT team a heads up at your earliest convenience so that they can mobilize effectively to support.

Good News Report (In no particular order)

• Christmas Outing: Just wanted to thank our students and staff for enjoying such a wonderful and fun day together during our past Outing. 
  

• Awards Afternoon & Night: Congratulations again to everyone for their accomplishments and for making our Awards Ceremony so special. In particular, thank-you to Tara North, Rayna Warren, Marlene LeShane, and Pam Slade for putting so much time and effort to make this event a successful one. Thank-you to all other staff, students, and community volunteers! 

• BCP Cash Lottery: Congrats and thank-you to all our students and supporters. Tickets are in! Winners will be announced in the new year. Students will receive any payouts in the New Year as well.
