6) BCP Weekly Updates: A focus at Baccalieu Collegiate in the 2024 school year is to build a strong and connected community. A pillar to building this is strong communication. If you have news, information, or a good news report try completing the BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form to have it communicated on our Monday Morning Memo sent to teachers, parents/guardians, and students. Let our efforts and appreciation be known.

7) BCP Student Centre:  Please note that our Student Centre (former Learning Commons) has Air Hockey, foosball, board games, and now two Roku televisions. Students may hook up their games to the televisions during lunchtime for an appropriate gaming quest or challenge.

8) Gasland Litter: It was reported that students are littering the grounds between Baccalieu Collegiate and Gasland during lunchtime. This is wildly inappropriate and unnecessary. Students are asked to keep our community clean and throw their garbage in the trash cans. Parents/guardians please also discuss with your child.

9) Student Bookbags: Students are asked not to leave their book bags in the hallways or by doors as this creates unnecessary trip hazards. Please manage your books and backpacks in lockers.

10) Volunteer Meeting: Baccalieu Collegiate is inviting any community/family members who would like to volunteer their time in cooperation with the school for a meeting at 6:10pm on Thursday, September 19th 2024 (before the Meet and Greet/ Curriculum Night).

11) Meet and Greet -- Curriculum Night: Baccalieu Collegiate will have its Meet and Greet the teacher / Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 19th 2024 starting at 6:30pm. Families are encouraged to attend a general assembly (cafeteria) covering teacher introductions and important information, followed by an opportunity to share a coffee/tea with our teachers (gymnasium).

12) Reminder -- Important Memo for Grades 7-12 Families:

13) Reminder -- Absence/Sign-in/Sign-out (Family): It’s very important that you make attendance a priority for our youth. Consistent attendance is crucial for academic and social success, as it ensures that students are actively engaged and able to fully benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with their lessons and assignments, but they also develop important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and perseverance. Being present and engaged in the classroom allows students to participate in discussions, collaborate with peers, and build strong relationships. By reinforcing this message, we can work together to encourage our students and their families to prioritize attendance and make the most of their educational experience.

Powerschool makes a daily call-out to families of students who had any unexcused absences or unexcused lateness. Please go to the website to review our sign-in, sign-out, and absent procedures including access to our BCP ABSENT FORM (and/or call the office or email homeroom teacher) to formally notify school of an absence. If your child will be late to school you can complete the absence form and indicate in the comments the time that they should be arriving and the reason why. Students signing in late must first report to the office. Furthermore, any students signing-out early for appointments etc. must have a parent/guardian come into the school before their dismissal from class. Once a student is dismissed from class they must come to the office directly before approval to leave.

14) Reminder --Powerschool -- Rycor Payment/Forms: Baccalieu Collegiate will continue its implementation of the Rycor online form/payment system in September 2024.
