School Allergies Please be aware that the following foods are prohibited at school due to severe allergies: nuts, fish, shellfish, and eggs. We have students who may require an epipen if exposed to the listed allergens. Also, students are to refrain from using heavily scented products as there are students and staff with allergies.
Rycor Forms If you haven't already done so, please fill out the Acceptable Use of Technology, Core Digital Tools Consent, and Media Consent Forms through Rycor for your child(ren). It is also critical to make sure that you update your demographic information if there have been any changes since last year.
295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets The 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets would love to welcome new members! Cadets meet every Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the school. It’s a great opportunity for youth to build skills, make friends, and get involved in their community.
Extra Curricular Schedule Baccalieu Collegiate offers a number of extra curricular activities including sports, drama, tutoring/study hall, DND, and more!

BCP Athletic Shirts and Apparel Students/Parents/Guardians can now order Baccalieu Predators Athletics shirts through the In the Box NL online store. Options include: dri-fit short sleeve, dri-fit long sleeve, crew neck sweatshirt, and hooded sweatshirt, all in grey or navy blue.
Required Course for Athletes The Provincial Government is partnering with School Sports NL to launch the Safe Sport in Education course for NLSchools student athletes in grades 7-12. All NLSchools student athletes will be required to complete the Safe Sport in Education course and submit their course completion certificate along with a signed NLSchools and School Sports NL Athletic Contract in order to join team activities. The course will be available through the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI).

Student Bookbags Students are asked not to leave their book bags in the hallways or by doors, as this creates unnecessary trip hazards. Please manage your books and backpacks in the lockers, designated area of the school, or keep them with you.
Volunteer Meeting Baccalieu Collegiate is inviting any community/family members who would like to volunteer their time in cooperation with the school for a meeting. Further information will come out in the upcoming days regarding the day & time.

PowerSchool makes a daily call-out to families of students who have had any unexcused absences or lateness. Please go to the website to review our sign-in, sign-out, and absent procedures, including access to ourBCP Absent Form (and/or call the office or email the homeroom teacher) to formally notify the school of an absence.
If your child will be late, you can complete the absence form and indicate the arrival time and reason. Students signing in late must first report to the office. Students signing out early for appointments, etc., must have a parent/guardian come into the school before their dismissal from class. Once a student is dismissed, they must come to the office directly before approval to leave.
Rycor Payment/Forms Baccalieu Collegiate will continue its implementation of the Rycor online form/payment system in September 2026. Please review the links below and access (set up if needed) PowerSchool Parent Portal. You will need to use your parent email on file at Baccalieu Collegiate.
The Rycor system will work on all devices; however, it is recommended to use a computer where possible.

Welcome back to a new school year at Baccalieu Collegiate. We would like to welcome our new students who are embarking on their high school career and are looking forward to seeing the familiar faces of our continuing students. This year at Baccalieu, there will be some familiar staff members who are eager to get back into the classroom and work with our amazing students and there will be some new staff members that we would like to welcome to our BCP family. This year is gearing up to be one of the best yet.
Baccalieu Collegiate’s vision remains to build a safe and caring community that cultivates life-long learning. To make it work, we need to work together.
With that being said, please see the following important information regarding students’ first day of school. There will be more details to come, but this should help you get started. As always, families will receive a weekly update to help keep everyone informed and organized with the many events happening at Baccalieu Collegiate. Bus Information:
Bus Run 1: Leaves Winterton at 7:40am and picks up students to the end of Lead Cove.
Bus Run 2: Leaves Ochre Pit Cove at 7:50am and ends at Caplin Cove.
Bus Run 3: Leaves Bay-de-Verde at 8:05am and also runs to Red Head Cove.
Bus Run 4: Leaves Grates Cove at 7:40am and travels to Old Perlican (Old Perlican may have to judge accordingly during the first couple of days)
Bus Run 5: Leaves Low Point at 8:00am (mini-bus)
Door Opening: Doors will not be opened until 8:30am, when the scheduled teacher starts, to ensure student safety.
CODE OF CONDUCT: Moving forward, the school will be following a demerit system under our updated Code of Conduct. Although the Code of Conduct will be introduced on the first day, we ask that families discuss it and home and reinforce our expectations of respect, effort, and accountability. We recognize the importance of input from various stakeholders (including students and the school council) of the BCP community, so we will be looking for input on this as the year progresses.
Cafeteria Services: Cafeteria Services will begin on Monday, September 14th, 2026. www.harbourbreezecatering.ca. We encourage all families to DOWNLOAD THE FREE HARBOUR BREEZE APP ON YOUR ANDROID OR iOS MOBILE DEVICE. Use the app to order student lunches to ensure they get what they want and do not need to handle money.
Day 1 Schedule: All students should proceed to the gymnasium after arriving at school on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026. We will have a general assembly to kick off the year before sending students to their homeroom to connect. After the assembly and homeroom, students will follow a condensed schedule that will allow them to be introduced to all of their assigned classes.
Grades 10-12 Course Selections: For any students seeking to change their course schedule, there will be an ADD/DROP form available for completion and approval before any changes are made. Students should continue to follow their schedule until approval and the change is finalized. Changes are not guaranteed. Add/Drop forms are available for pick-up at the office.

When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with their lessons and assignments, but they also develop important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and perseverance. Being present and engaged in the classroom allows students to participate in discussions, collaborate with peers, and build strong relationships. By reinforcing this message, we can work together to encourage our students and their families to prioritize attendance and make the most of their educational experience.

Communication at Baccalieu
PowerSchool: Please ensure families download the PowerSchool app and access their students' accounts regularly. Currently, PowerSchool serves many functions, including keeping track of students' grades, assignments, and attendance. The app's functionality has been extended this year to include completion of important forms and money transactions.
Website: Our website is a priority for updates and information. Please view the website for access to calendars, news, scholarship info, forms, guidance, etc. www.baccalieucollegiate.ca. Weekly updates will be posted under "News."
School Messenger: Every Friday afternoon, there will be a BCP Weekly Update email sent to families outlining the majority of events in the coming week and down the road, along with important updates and information. Please notify the administration if you are not receiving these.
Facebook: Join our Baccalieu Collegiate Facebook page for various updates and information. Many important announcements will be shared on the Facebook page from the website, including our weekly updates.
Teacher Emails: Teachers will be sending out emails to parents/guardians and students to ensure they organize and keep on track.

Updates and Important Information
Year-End Field Trip - Monday, June 22nd On Monday, June 22nd, there is no school for students; only the field trip. All teaching staff will be going on the field trip. Morning: Buses will pick up students at their regular stops and bring them to Baccalieu Collegiate for their regular start time. Buses will leave the school at 8:30 am, and all buses will go up the North Shore (we will not be holding the buses for students who are late). 11:00 - Students will be dropped off at either bowling, laser tag, or get air (whatever was communicated to the office). 12:00-2:30 - Students will have time to go around the mall with their classmates. Students are expected to be with at least one other school member. Afternoon: Buses will leave St. John's at approximately 2:30 pm, and will return "down each shore", dropping students off at their regular bus stops.
Extra Curricular Awards Ceremony - Tuesday, June 23rd Students, parents, and coaches are invited to attend Baccalieu Collegiate's Extra Curricular Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 1:00 pm. This ceremony will recognize contributions and accomplishments in athletics, clubs, fine arts, leadership, and other activities throughout the 25-26 school year.
Musical Coffee House Baccalieu Collegiate is hosting a musical Coffee House on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:00 pm ($3 entry). We look forward to seeing you there!
Report Card Day - Thursday, June 25th Junior High Students (7-9): Buses run as usual in the morning and pick up only Junior High students. Junior High students enter the school, pick up their report cards and pick up any belongings they've left at the school before being dismissed at 9:30 am (when the bus will bring them home). Senior High Students (10-12): Buses will pick up only Senior High students 2.5 hours after their usual morning pick up time. Senior high students will enter the school, pick up their report cards and pick up any belongings they've left at the school before being dismissed at 12:30 pm (when the bus will bring them home).
This is the final day for students.
Rycor Fees Although PowerSchool is unavailable until Thursday, Rycor is accessible through its website (https://www.studentquickpay.com/nlesd/). Families with outstanding fees are asked to make every effort to have them paid by Wednesday, June 24.
Families who may require additional support or flexibility with payment should communicate with the school.
Sports Uniforms and School Textbooks Students who have the school's sports uniforms/jerseys must bring them back by Wednesday, June 24th. If athletes who have jerseys want to have the same one next year, they can speak to Ms. Oliver to make arrangements. Returning uniforms helps ensure they are available for future teams and players. The replacement cost of any unreturned school-owned uniform or jersey will be added to the student's Rycor account.
Students are asked to return all textbooks and learning materials by Wednesday, June 24th. Textbooks are shared resources that support student learning from year-to-year. The replacement cost of any textbook that is not returned may be added to the student's Rycor account.
Yearbook Orders We are now taking 2025-26 yearbook orders. The cost of a yearbook is $10, and you can access that under "Other" on Rycor.

Final Exams (continue) this week Exams will take place during periods 1 and 4 on their respective days. Students are reminded to arrive on time with all required materials, including pencils and calculators. To ensure a fair and valid assessment process for all students, talking is not permitted during exams. Attendance: effective Monday, June 15, attendance for high school students will no longer be taken for each class period. Instead, attendance will be recorded at the beginning of each scheduled exam. Students are required to be present to write the exams. Absences will only be excused with appropriate medical documentation.
Signing out: Students must get parental permission to leave after their exam(s). As a parent/guardian, you can fill out the Google Form, call in, or send in a note with your child(ren).
No School for Students - Friday, June 19th There will be no school for students on Friday, June 19th, as it is a PL day for teachers to finalize their report card grading and comments.
