4) CDLI Updates: There will be no synchronous classes for CDLI students on October 18th, October 19th and October 20th due to teacher professional learning. In advance of these dates, teachers will be communicating with students about any asynchronous learning that students may be engaging in. Classes will resume on Oct 21st. Also, the CDLI team will be welcoming families and schools to a virtual open house starting at 7:00pm on Thursday, October 13th.

5) Comprehensive School Health Team: Have a look at our community's input on our CSH School Project through this CSH Infographic. This is year two of our CSH Project where we will have access to $8000.00 in grant money to develop our school.

6) Important Message from District to Communityhttps://twitter.com/NLESDCA/status/1575499541679251456?s=20&t=ftm3r-4d0s780t0YGIVokw For some time now, the @NLESDCA staff have been fielding questions resulting from social media posts making broad claims about students & individuals who identify as cats &/or animals. These posts claim that schools are placing litter boxes in their buildings. Let us be clear, this claim, as well as many others associated with this line of thinking, are completely false & are causing undue stress on our school communities. Children in schools express themselves in many ways, but these rumours appear to be rooted in hate and, in general, are attempts by some to further marginalize already marginalized groups. This has no place within our Safe and Caring School environments. As always, we ask that you ensure you get your information from trusted sources & keep kindness in mind when discussing matters related to young people in our communities. Any concerns related to student matters, as always, should be addressed with your administrative teams at the school level.

7) NL LD Association Tutoring: Just in case you didn't know, the NL LD Association offers online tutoring in reading and in math.  The service is subsidized and depending on need can be free.  Please see the link if you have students who would benefit.  You can share with parents or refer. https://www.ldanl.ca/rural-nl-tutoring-support/

8) Scholarships: Please note that the office has sent two emails to the Class of 2023 pertaining to scholarship opportunities including Pearson Scholarship Application (due Oct. 16) and Quest to Excellence Remax Scholarship. Keep an eye out on our facebook and website, as well as emails (sent to student emails) for scholarship opportunities.

9) After School Academic Support: Just an FYI that Mr. Holloway will be staying after school to offer extra help for students on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.  Mr. Holloway let his own classes know, but anybody looking for help in Math or even the CDLI physics students are welcome to drop by. Thanks Mr. Holloway!!

10) Doorways: Doorways are back at Baccalieu to support students with mental health counselling. Doorways will begin bi-weekly starting Wednesday, October 12th 2022. The following information will be sent home to families including: Doorways Information and Doorways FAQ

11) Types of Rest: "Have you ever slept 7+ hours but still felt EXHAUSTED? Me too. While sleeping is physical rest, You actually need 7 types of rest to avoid burnout (According to Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith). So stay at your best with these 7 types of rest: You actually need 7 types of rest to avoid burnout (According to Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith).
