BCP Weekly Updates: Monday, November 3rd, 2025 (DAY 1)

Updates and Important Information

  1. Remembrance Day Assembly
    Baccalieu Collegiate would like to welcome you to our Remembrance Day assembly on Friday, November 7th, at 1pm as we honour the brave individuals who have served, and continue to serve, our country. As a reminder, students are to remove hats and hoods during the ceremony as a sign of respect.

  2. Senior Boys Basketball - Another Win
    Congratulations to our Senior Boys Basketball team on another big win against Ascension Collegiate this past week! The team showed great teamwork, determination, and school pride throughout the game.

  3. Senior Boys Cross Country 
    A huge congratulations to our (Senior Boys) Cross Country team for representing Baccalieu Collegiate at Provincials this weekend! We are proud of their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship.

  4. Senior Girls Volleyball Game
    Good luck to our Senior Girls Volleyball team as they compete against Carbonear Collegiate tonight, Sunday, November 2nd, at 6pm.  Let's go Baccalieu!

  5. Junior High Hockey Team - CC
    Mr. Ardis of Carbonear is organizing a hockey team for students in grades 7/8/9.  Any interested students, please fill out the Google Form: https://forms.gle/F6DA6BpUPerYryr5A

  6. Christmas Talent Show
    Baccalieu Collegiate is excited to introduce our very first Christmas Talent Show. If you have a talent you would like to share, then there is a sign-up sheet at the office. Our Christmas Talent Show will tentatively take place on Tuesday, December 16, at 7pm. It will be a new and wonderful way to kick off the holidays. Come out and share in the Christmas spirit with your children as they take to the stage to show off their talent to create some Christmas cheer!

  7. Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Program
    We are looking for additional volunteers for our KES Breakfast Program.  Anyone interested, please contact Ms. LeShane at marleneleshane@nlschools.ca.

  8. Long Weekend Ahead
    A reminder to Parents/Guardians that next weekend is a 4-day weekend (November 8-11).

  9. Grad Photos - November 20th
    A reminder that grad photos are on Thursday, November 20th.  To parents of graduating students, there will be a separate email regarding photo times and details.

  10. Halloween Dance 
    A big thank you to all staff and students who helped make our Halloween Dance a success! Your creativity, teamwork, and school spirit made for a fun and memorable night.

  11. Star Creations - BCP Apparel
    Show your Baccalieu pride with school clothing/gear from Star Creations! Order online before November 15 to get them for Christmas. Access the link through our school website under BCP Merchandise.

  12. 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets
    The 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets would love to welcome new members! Cadets meet every Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the school. It’s a great opportunity for youth to build skills, make friends, and get involved in their community.

  13. Sea Cadets Annual Craft Fair
    The Sea Cadets will be hosting their annual craft fair on November 16th, from 1-4pm; $2 admittance. If you are interested in a table, please contact Cindy Burt (709) 683-7688 or Lillian Morgan at (709) 587-2831. Thank you for supporting our Cadets!

  14. Code of Conduct

    This year, we have introduced an updated Code of Conduct.  Please make sure you review this with your child(ren): Code of Conduct

  15. Absence / Sign-In / Sign-Out (Family)
    Attendance is critical for academic and social success, as it ensures that students are actively engaged and able to fully benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. Please make sure that you sign your child in and out when arriving late or leaving early.

  16. Extra Curricular Schedule
    Baccalieu Collegiate offers extracurricular activities, including sports, drama, tutoring/study hall, DND, and more!  Please check our Calendar and our Facebook page for schedules.

  17. Rycor Forms
    If you haven't already done so, please fill out Forms through Rycor for your child(ren). The easiest way to access Rycor is on a desktop device, through your PowerSchool login.  If you have any issues accessing your PowerSchool, please contact the office for support.

  18. School Allergies
    Please be aware that certain foods are prohibited at school due to severe allergies. We have students who may require an EpiPen if exposed to the listed allergens.

  19. Personal Electronic Device Policy
    As per NLSchool's policy, cell phones and other similar personal devices are not to be seen during class unless permitted by the teacher for learning purposes.

  20. Cannabis and Smoke Free Policy
    Please note Baccalieu Collegiate and the District support a Tobacco, Cannabis, Smoke and Smokeless Free Policy. This policy also prohibits clothing that promotes these products. District Policy Document

  21. Dirtbikes & ATVs
    We’ve received several concerns from community members about students driving dirt bikes and ATVs recklessly. We ask parents/guardians to take time to speak with your child(ren) about the importance of road safety and the responsible use of these machines. Safe operation protects not only our students but also everyone in the community. This is not only a safety concern, but a legal one as well.

  22. Doorways
    Doorways School Counselling Program is returning to Baccalieu Collegiate. They have increased their visits to be weekly. Please see their letter, which discusses the consent to treatment for counsellors. School DoorWays Program Letter

  23. Required Course for Athletes
    The Provincial Government is partnering with School Sports NL to launch the Safe Sport in Education course for NLSchools student athletes in grades 7-12.

    All NLSchools student-athletes will be required to complete the Safe Sport in Education course and submit their course completion certificate, along with a signed NLSchools and School Sports NL Athletic Contract, to participate in team activities. The course will be available through the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation. To complete the course: go to the following link > click "Sign Up" > type in your email > go to your email and click on the link > fill out your information > click on the link to go to BrightSpace > register for the course. Good News Report (in no particular order)

  • Teachers: A huge thank-you for your dedication in setting clear expectations, building strong routines, and creating welcoming classrooms, which have set the tone for a positive year ahead.

  • Coaches: Thank you for volunteering your time and energy to ensure our students have meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom. Many of our teams are already underway, working hard and preparing for their upcoming games and tournaments.

  • Parents/GuardiansThank you for your continued support. By encouraging your child(ren)’s regular attendance and staying connected with the school, you’re helping set them up for success and strengthening our school community.

  • Support Staff: Heartfelt thanks to our office staff, student assistants, and all those working behind the scenes. Your organization, care, and support help keep our school running smoothly every single day!
