BCP Weekly Updates: Monday, October 27th, 2025 (DAY 10)

 

Dear Families,

Updates and Important Information

  1. School Pictures Tomorrow!
    Lifetouch will be coming to Baccalieu Collegiate, tomorrow Monday, October 27th, for pictures - don’t forget those smiles!  Lifetouch will be returning on November 20th (tentatively) for Grad Photos.
  2. Halloween Spirit Week!
    Thank you to our Leadership Group for planning activities for all this week - including the Halloween dance, this Thursday October 30th! Please see the schedule below:


  3. Senior Boys Basketball - Off to a Good Start!
    Our Senior Boys Basketball team opened their season with a strong performance, earning a win over Ascension Collegiate. The team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and teamwork — a great start to what’s sure to be an exciting season!

  4. Senior Girls Volleyball – Strong Showing at Volleyfest! 
    Congrats to the Senior Girls Varsity Volleyball team on their great showing at Volleyfest. They made it to the semi finals and lost to a great PWC team. 

    Congrats also to the Grade 9 Girls Volleyball team in competing at Volleyfest this year and making semi finals in their category.

    As always, our teams played hard, showed great team work, and were great ambassadors for the school.  Let go BCP!!

  5. Remembrance Day Practice & Drama Festival Tryouts
    There will be drama practice for those involved in Remembrance Day tomorrow after school from 3- 3:45. Afterwards, we will have junior high drama tryouts for the drama festival. Junior high students interested in auditioning for the drama festival play, then tryouts will start tomorrow at 3:45pm. If you are not interested in acting but would like to be a part of our back stage or Lights and Sounds crew, please let us know. If you would like to tryout but are unable to make tomorrow's auditions, please let us know.

  6. Christmas Talent Show
    Baccalieu Collegiate is excited to introduce our very first Christmas Talent Show. If you have a talent you would like to share, then there is a sign up sheet at the office. Our Christmas Talent Show will tentatively take place on Tuesday, December 16 at 7pm. It will be a new and wonderful way to kick off the holidays. Come out and share in the Christmas spirit with your children as they take to the stage to show off their talent to create some Christmas cheer!

  7. Star Creations - BCP Apparel
    Show your Baccalieu pride with school clothing/gear from Star Creations! Order online before November 15 to get them for Christmas. Access the link through our school website under BCP Merchandise.

  8. 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets
    The 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets would love to welcome new members! Cadets meet every Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the school. It’s a great opportunity for youth to build skills, make friends, and get involved in their community.

  9. Sea Cadets Annual Craft Fair
    The Sea Cadets will be hosting their annual craft fair on November 16th, from 1-4pm; $2 admittance. If you are interested in a table, please contact Cindy Burt (709) 683-7688 or Lillian Morgan at (709) 587-2831. Thank you for supporting our Cadets!

  10. Code of Conduct

    This year, we have introduced an updated Code of Conduct.  Please make sure you review this with your child(ren): Code of Conduct

  11. Absence / Sign-In / Sign-Out (Family)
    Attendance is critical for academic and social success, as it ensures that students are actively engaged and able to fully benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. Please make sure that you sign your child in and out when arriving late or leaving early.

  12. Extra Curricular Schedule
    Baccalieu Collegiate offers extracurricular activities, including sports, drama, tutoring/study hall, DND, and more!  Please check our Calendar and our Facebook page for schedules.

  13. Rycor Forms
    If you haven't already done so, please fill out Forms through Rycor for your child(ren). The easiest way to access Rycor is on a desktop device, through your PowerSchool login.  If you have any issues accessing your PowerSchool, please contact the office for support.

  14. School Allergies
    Please be aware that certain foods are prohibited at school due to severe allergies. We have students who may require an EpiPen if exposed to the listed allergens.

  15. Personal Electronic Device Policy
    As per NLSchool's policy, cell phones and other similar personal devices are not to be seen during class unless permitted by the teacher for learning purposes.

  16. Cannabis and Smoke Free Policy
    Please note Baccalieu Collegiate and the District support a Tobacco, Cannabis, Smoke and Smokeless Free Policy. This policy also prohibits clothing that promotes these products. District Policy Document

  17. Dirtbikes & ATVs
    We’ve received several concerns from community members about students driving dirt bikes and ATVs recklessly. We ask parents/guardians to take time to speak with your child(ren) about the importance of road safety and the responsible use of these machines. Safe operation protects not only our students but also everyone in the community. This is not only a safety concern, but a legal one as well.

  18. Doorways
    Doorways School Counselling Program is returning to Baccalieu Collegiate. They have increased their visits to be weekly. Please see their letter, which discusses the consent to treatment for counsellors. School DoorWays Program Letter

  19. Required Course for Athletes
    The Provincial Government is partnering with School Sports NL to launch the Safe Sport in Education course for NLSchools student athletes in grades 7-12.

    All NLSchools student-athletes will be required to complete the Safe Sport in Education course and submit their course completion certificate, along with a signed NLSchools and School Sports NL Athletic Contract, to participate in team activities. The course will be available through the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation. To complete the course: go to the following link > click "Sign Up" > type in your email > go to your email and click on the link > fill out your information > click on the link to go to BrightSpace > register for the course. Good News Report (in no particular order)

  • Teachers: A huge thank-you for your dedication in setting clear expectations, building strong routines, and creating welcoming classrooms, which have set the tone for a positive year ahead.

  • Coaches: Thank you for volunteering your time and energy to ensure our students have meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom. Many of our teams are already underway, working hard and preparing for their upcoming games and tournaments.

  • Parents/GuardiansThank you for your continued support. By encouraging your child(ren)’s regular attendance and staying connected with the school, you’re helping set them up for success and strengthening our school community.

  • Support Staff: Heartfelt thanks to our office staff, student assistants, and all those working behind the scenes. Your organization, care, and support help keep our school running smoothly every single day!
