Baccalieu Collegiate Weekly Updates: Monday, February 3rd 2025 (DAY 13)

Greetings! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Welcome to February! Let's have a fun one. Thank-you in advance for taking the time to review updates and important reminders! Any questions or concerns let me know. If I have missed anything please reply-all to this email. 

BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form: A focus at Baccalieu Collegiate in the 2024 school year is to build a strong and connected community. A pillar to building this is effective communication. Volunteer coaches, members of town council, families etc.  are invited to share information, events, and/or good news with our BCP community via BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form. Please complete the form to have your news pertinent to students and families shared on our BCP weekly updates email. 

Updates and Important Information

Grade 12 Mid-Year Report: Grade 12 Mid-year reports will be available Friday, February 7th 2025. 

Badminton Practices: Senior Badminton Tryouts will start this Wednesday, February 5th from 2:45-4:30. On Thursday any students from Grades 7-12 that are interested in badminton are invited to attend from 2:45-4:00.

Drama Practice: Drama practice- Senior practice - Monday from 3-4:30 and Thursday from 2:50-4. Junior drama practice - Wednesday from 3-4:15 and Thursday from 4-5, Please make every effort to attend.

Personal Electronic Device (PED) Policy:  All students who bring PED to school are required to check-in their PED at respective hotels. Any students leaving PED home must have a parent/guardian email their respective homeroom teacher informing them. Please read the Policy closely. Baccalieu Collegiate PED Policy

Girls Basketball: Baccalieu Girls Basketball are hosting the 2A Regional Qualifier this weekend Saturday, February 8th 2025. Any students wishing to volunteer please reach out to Ms. Sequeira or Mr. Saxby. The girls will play Crescent Collegiate at 10am and 1pm on Saturday. Come out and cheer your home team on! 

Sr. Boys Basketball: Our Sr. Boys team will be travelling to Baltimore this Friday and Saturday to compete in their invitational. Good luck!

Sr. Boys Basketball Hosting 2A: Baccalieu Collegiate will be hosting the SSNL 2A Regional Qualifier the weekend of February 15 & 16 2025. Any students, parents, community members, stakeholders willing to offer assistance and/or volunteer please contact Mr. Saxby. This will be a six team tournament and include Mobile, Laval, Roncalli, Saint Michael's, and Crescent. 

Bus Safety Guide: Dear families, this is a reminder to please reference the NLSchools Bus Safety Guide as a reminder of bus safety rules to be followed by our students. 

NISEP Host Family Information (Families): Any families interested in hosting a student to come to Baccalieu Collegiate from abroad please see the following NISEP MEMO. This mutually beneficial program allows everyone a win! 

Good News Report 

• Senior girls winter volleyball invitational: Huge congratulations to the Baccalieu Collegiate Senior girls varsity volleyball team on winning the the Senior girls volleyball winter invitational held at Carbonear Collegiate this past weekend. It was a great weekend of volleyball with sportsmanship at its finest. Congrats to Stephanie LeShane on being chosen as the team MSP and to Sarah Oliver on being chosen as the teams MVP. Volleyball is alive and well at Baccalieu Collegiate. 3,2,1 BCP
  
• Jr. Boys Basketball: Congrats to the junior Boys squad for showing out at Carbonear Academy last week! Great work! 
• Girls Basketball: Congrats to our girls basketball team. They defeated Ascension in a friendly last Tuesday! The girls play Crescent in 2A tournament play this week. Good luck!
• Sr. Boys Basketball Team: Congrats to our Sr. Boys Basketball squad for winning their third game in a row Tuesday night against the Laval Cavaliers! The boys won 69-48. They are now 3-3 in league play with only a home and home series left vs. Roncalli. 
• Service Delivery Team Meeting: Thank-you Service Delivery Team members for all of your hardwork and meeting last week. Keep up the great support!
  
• Career Education Splash Centre: Big thanks to the Splash Centre for their powerful day of learning last week for our Career Education students!
• Lighthouse Project: Congrats to our Lighthouse team for continuing to grow. New members are always welcome! Junior High or Senior High!
• Baccalieu Bucks: Congrats to our students' engagement in the Homeroom Baccalieu Buck challenges. Leaderboards will be posted soon!
