Good morning! I hope everyone is enjoying their extended weekend due to winter weather. Thank-you in advance for taking the time to review updates and important reminders! Any questions or concerns let me know. If I have missed anything please reply-all to this email.
Updates and Important Information
1) BCP Athletic Shirts and Apparel: Students/Parents/
2) New International Students: Please note we're happy to invite three new international students travelling from Brazil to our join school and programs starting February 1st 2024 and until the end of the year.
3) Banned Device: Please note that there have been a few students in the school identified to have the following device: Flipper Zero. This and other like devices are banned from school mainly due to the intent of the device including its capabilities to disrupt (prank) individuals and teachers.
4) Doorways: Please note that the Doorways program will be serving students this week at Baccalieu on Wednesday, January 31st 2024. Speak to guidance/office to reserve your spot on the list.
5) Baking Bread for Science: This is a reminder that Ms. Sheppard has planned on Wednesday, January 31st 2024 "Baking Bread for Science" to do with both Grade 9 classes. The event will be taking place throughout the day as the bread rising to the challenge.
6) Study Hall: Do not forget about Study Hall. It is an excellent resource providing your student/child a distraction free and routine space to work on their studies. Study Hall is every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-4pm. Support from students and teachers are available. Don't be shy. Come to the Study Hall!
7) Graduation Photo Retakes: Grade 12 Students who missed their graduation photos will have their photos taken on February 1st and 2nd 2024. Please check with Ms. Warren and/or Ms. LeShane for your schedule.
8) Grade 9 Girls Volleyball: The Gr. 9 Girls Volleyball team will be competing in the under 15 Provincials in St. John's this weekend. Best of luck!
9) Senior Boys Basketball: The BCP Grade 12 Boys Basketball team are set to compete this weekend at the Ascension Collegiate Invitational. Come out and support your Predators Basketball. See the calendar for the attached schedule of games.
10) Ministerial Close Out Day: On February 6th 2024 the Department of Education will be facilitating a close out day for teacher professional learning. There will be no school for students on this day.
11) FYI Memorial Information Sessions: Memorial’s St. John’s campus will be hosting information sessions for prospective grade 11 and 12 students, parents and guardians on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and repeated on Wednesday, Feb. 7. See the attached file to use and circulate within your schools. There will be various faculties, schools and administrative units set up throughout the evening in the Core Science Facility starting at 6 p.m. Campus presentations and student panels are also taking place throughout the evening. Free parking is available in the parking garage, located across the street from the Core Science Facility. For details and access to the campus map, visit www.mun.ca/undergrad/.
12) Anti-Bullying Day: Pink shirt day is February 28, 2024. If you need a new one you can order it here and it will ship directly to the school! Shirts are $9.00 taxes and shipping included. Please see our facebook page for more details.
13) Accident/Incident Form: Please be advised that Accident/Injury Report forms must be completed if/when an injury to a student occurs in your supervision. The Accident/Incident Form should be completed and sent to Mr. Barrett for review before he submits it to the district. He will then receive an automatic reply confirming receipt, as well as a reminder of next steps should a parent/guardian need to open a claim with Student Insurance (SSQ) because of an injury.

Good News Report (In no particular order)
- Girls Volleyball: Best of luck to our girls volleyball squads competing at tournaments this weekend!
- Thank-you: Huge thank-you to our Baccalieu teachers for giving their 110% and very best intentions for our students everyday!
- KES: Thank-you Ms. LeShane for organizing our Kids Eat Smart breakfast program and thank-you to all of our community volunteers!
- Study Hall: Huge thanks to Mr. Holloway for giving up his time to support student learning every Tuesday and Wednesday afterschool!
- Grade 9 Boys Basketball: Congrats to Gr. 9 boys team for a strong showing this past weekend at the Carbonear Winter Classic.
- Drama: Big thanks to our hardworking Drama Troupe preparing for the Drama Festival this year! Way to go and keep up the hard work!
- Doorways: Thank-you Doorways for being here and meeting with your students. We conversate all the time. Why not with someone who has your best interests in mind and is trained to help?
- Student Volunteers: Thank-you to all of our student volunteers! Special thanks to Gavin Clarke and Hunter Snelgrove for volunteering their time to help our junior boys basketball team!
- TFT: Thank-you to our tutoring for tuition students! In particular this week, thank-you Abigail Mahone for always being there to help!
Chess Club: Great work chess club! Thanks Mr. Holloway for leading this for our students.
Music with Ms. Sequeira: Great job students in music! Thank-you students and Ms. Sequeira!
