BCP Family Weekly Update: Monday, January 30th 2023 (DAY 10)

 Dear Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend break! Congrats to our Gr. 8 Girls Volleyball team for a strong showing this weekend!  Thank-you in advance for taking the time to review updates and important reminders!                                               Updates and Important Information

1) Semester 2: Please note that Semester 2 courses begin today, Moday, January 30th 2023. 

2) Doorways: Please note that Doorwards will be in the school on Wednesday, February 1st 2023. 

3) Wellness Day Kickoff: On Wednesday, Februaray 8th 2023 in partnership with our Comprehensive School Health Team and Baccalieu Collegiate will be hosting a Wellness Day Kickoff! The day will include various wellness activities as well as important information sessions put on by members of Eastern Health including: Bridge the Gapp, coping strategies for stress, social media and the effects it has on youth motivation, and vaping. 

4) Winter Carnival Week: This is a reminder that our BCP Winter Carnival Week led by our School Leadership is fast approaching from February 13th until the 17th. Looking forward to it!

5) Mid-Year Report: Please note that the office will need to generate and store a Mid-Year Report for all current Grade 12 students. 

6) Ronald McDonald House: BCP staff, students and families are invited to bring in their pop pull tabs and place them in the bucket near the lobby. Baccalieu Collegiate will again be collecting pull tabs in support of the Ronald McDonald House. Last year we collected over 3 X 18.5 litre bottles full. Let's beat that number this year! 

7) Assessment Support Calendar: Please do your best to add assessments to our Assessment Support Calendar. This calendar is shared on our www.baccalieucollegiate.ca site for both students and families to see and support their organization. Additionally, give our IRT team a heads up at your earliest convenience so that they can mobilize effectively to support.

Good News Report (In no particular order)

• CNA Field Trip: Big thanks to Mr. Holloway and Ms. Doyle for organizing the Career class trip to the CNA. Sounded like a great day!
  

• Grade 8 Girls Volleyball: Congrats to our Grade 8 Girls Volleyball team for a strong showing at this past tournament held at Baccalieu Collegiate! The girls gained silver in the tourn.

• Sr. Boys Basketball: Good luck to the Sr. Boys Basketball team who attend a PWC tournament this weekend
• Girls Volleyball: Good luck to our Girls Volleyball who play in a tournament held in Ascension this weekend!
• Sports & Other Practices & Events: So many sports and other events going on afterschool. Please check out Baccalieu Calendar for a listing of events and times! Thank-you to all of our students for getting involved and teachers and volunteers for giving up your time for our youth!
