Important Updates and Reminders (September 17th 2021)

Please see the following important announcements:

1) Harbour Breeze Lunch and Snack Services begin Monday, September 20th 2021. Please see our website for the NEW menu. Families are encouraged to download the app and pre-order lunch to ensure their favourite dishes are prepared. Please note you must pre-order through the app the night before. Students may also pre-order lunch in person anytime prior to 8:30am the day of. 

2) Kids Eat Smart is back up and running. Students can go to the cafeteria for breakfast foods anytime before 8:30am. 

3) Curriculum Night for families will be Thursday, September 23rd 2021 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. 

The night will look as follows:

           6:30pm to 7:00pm: General Assembly led by administration. Teachers introduced. (cafeteria)

           7:00pm to 7:30pm: Grade 7 parent/guardians will go with homeroom teachers for a tour of school, presentation from homeroom teachers. Q & A. etc. Afterwards parents/guardians will go to the gym to view curriculums. 

           7:00pm to 8:00pm: Grade 8-12 parent/guardians will view curriculums. (gym)

4) There will be no school September 30th 2021 as we honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 

5) Extra-curricular sports have started, along with many more activities to get involved with! Please refer to our website, in particular our CALENDARS PAGE to ensure you're up-to-date with everything happening at Baccalieu Collegiate. 

6) Back to School and Covid. If you have not done so already please view our Covid guidelines as outlined by our Ministers. As well, please continue our Daily Pre-Screening and follow the guidelines. If any one symptom, please stay home and follow up with the screening before coming back to school.

Information for Graduating Students regarding NLESD G-Suite accounts

Your @nlesd.ca Google account will be closed after you leave the school. This applies when you graduate high school or otherwise leave the district. If you return to a school in the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District your account will be reactivated.

You do not have to transfer your work when you transfer between schools in the district. Your account will be moved to your new school.

You can use the Google Takeout and Transfer options to keep your email and samples of your work. You can find both options in the My Account, Control your content panel https://myaccount.google.com

Survey - Study of accessibility to services for people who stutter (PWS) in NL.

My name is Katelyn Mayo and I am writing on behalf of Dr. Paul De Decker, an Associate Professor of Linguistics at Memorial University. 

 

We are requesting your assistance in sharing with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and parents of students who attend Baccalieu Collegiate, a research survey we have developed to study accessibility to services for people who stutter (PWS) in NL. This is a collaborative study with the Newfoundland and Labrador Stuttering Association. We have received permission from the NLESD and the Interdisciplinary Committee on Ethics in Human Research at Memorial University.  Both approval letters are attached here.

We would be grateful if this notice could be distributed via channels available to you at Baccalieu Collegiate in order to recruit three categories of participants:

 

1. SLPs and others who provide clinical treatment to people who stutter

2. People who stutter (PWS)

3. Parents or caregivers of people who stutter
