  1. Brandon Harris Memorial Volleyball Tournament

Join us at Baccalieu Collegiate on November 13-14th as we host the Brandon Harris Memorial Senior Girls Volleyball Tournament.

We are looking for volunteers to help out with door admissions, canteen and keeping score.

If you are interested in volunteering, please let Ms. Oliver know. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is a great opportunity for students looking for Career Hours!

Come out, cheer on our girls, support Baccalieu Collegiate and help us remember one of our own, Brandon Harris.

Let’s make this a special weekend!

  1. Remembrance Day

The annual Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 10th at 11:00am. All are encouraged to attend. There will be no school for staff or students on November 11th, 2026.

  1. Rycor Forms and Fees

Please take a moment to log into Rycor through the Parental Portal of Powerschool and sign the following documents: Acceptable Use of Technology, Media Consent, and Core Digital Tools.

There are currently outstanding fees on Rycor for some students from the 2025–2026 school year, as well as the current 2026–2027 school year.

We kindly ask parents/guardians to log into PowerSchool as soon as possible to review their child(ren)’s account balance and arrange payment of any outstanding fees.

We understand that circumstances can sometimes make it difficult to pay fees immediately. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s balance or payment, please contact the school so we can discuss the situation with you.

Please note that outstanding fees may affect a student’s ability to participate in certain school-sponsored activities if payment arrangements have not been made.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and for your continued support of our school.

  1. Kids Eat Smart Radiothon

Kids Eat Smart is having a Radiothon on November 4th!

  1. School Pictures!
Lifetouch will be coming to Baccalieu on Tuesday, November 17th, for pictures.

  1. Grad Photos

Lifetouch will be doing Grad Photos on January 7th and 8th.

  1. Sign In/Out Form

The Sign In/Out form on the Baccalieu site is currently not working. Please call the school to sign your child in or out.

  1. Missed Assessments

Every effort should be made to complete assessments during their assigned times, however, when circumstances arise whereby a student cannot attend school to write their assessment on the scheduled day, students will be permitted to complete the assessment during lunchtime the following day. This procedure is designed to reduce the loss of instructional time and to try and encourage students to write their assessments on the scheduled date.

  1. Students Walking the Main Road During Recess or Lunch

The school has received information regarding students walking in the middle of the road, affecting the flow of traffic. It is very important that students are aware that this kind of behavior is not only inappropriate but very dangerous. Students should not be venturing to the middle of the road but should stay on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic. Leaving school during non-instructional time is a privilege, it should not be abused.

  1. Vandalism and Vaping on the Bus

It has been brought to our attention that the behavior on our buses is very inappropriate and as such a seating plan has been created for at least one bus. Please remind your child that vandalism and vaping on the bus is not permitted and those found responsible will face ramifications. School rules are bus rules and every student should adhere to all rules.

  1. Code of Conduct - Very important!
We have updated the Baccalieu Collegiate Code of Conduct. To address a recent rise in detentions and protect valuable learning time, we are introducing a new Detention & Suspension Policy alongside structured guidelines for classroom bathroom breaks.  Please make sure you review this with your child(ren): Code of Conduct

  1. Chromebooks and Chargers

A reminder to students to always bring their chromebooks and chargers to school. There are some chromebooks in the office, however, students should still bring their own to school.

We are still waiting for the grade 7 chromebooks to be delivered to the school. There has been a continuous shipment problem that has delayed the arrival of these chromebooks. Students will receive them when they are available.

  1. Garbage and Littering

There has been an issue with students not throwing their garbage in the garbage bins during recess and lunch, especially in the Learning Commons. Students are reminded to discard their garbage when in school and to not leave a mess around for the custodians to clean.

  1. EF Tour 2029

The deadline for receiving the $200.00 early discount for students signing up for the 2029 EF tour to Ireland, Scotland, London and Paris is Nov. 5, 2026. After that date the cost of the tour will increase by $200.00.

If you would like any information on the tour, please contact Mrs. Denise Reid.

  1. Grad Hoodies

Grad hoodies are ready to order through Star Creations Baccalieu Store - https://star-creations.ca/

  1. School Allergies

Please be advised that there is a latex allergy in school. Also, body sprays, cologne, and perfume, are becoming a big issue as students are heavily applying it to their clothing. These scents are affecting staff and students in the school causing allergic reactions and in some cases respiratory distress. These scents are not appropriate for school and care should be taken to not wear these types of scents.

  1. Absence / Sign-In / Sign-Out (Family)
Attendance is critical for academic and social success, as it ensures that students are actively engaged and able to fully benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. Please make sure that you sign your child in and out when arriving late or leaving early.

  2. Extra Curricular Schedule
Baccalieu Collegiate offers extracurricular activities, including sports, drama, tutoring/study hall, DND, and more!  Please check our Calendar and our Facebook page for schedules.

  3. Personal Electronic Device Policy
As per NLSchool's policy, cell phones and other similar personal devices are not to be seen during class unless permitted by the teacher for learning purposes.

  4. Cannabis and Smoke Free Policy
Please note Baccalieu Collegiate and the District support a Tobacco, Cannabis, Smoke and Smokeless Free Policy. This policy also prohibits clothing that promotes these products. District Policy Document

  5. Dirtbikes & ATVs
We’ve received several concerns from community members about students driving dirt bikes and ATVs recklessly. We ask parents/guardians to take time to speak with your child(ren) about the importance of road safety and the responsible use of these machines. Safe operation protects not only our students but also everyone in the community. This is not only a safety concern, but a legal one as well.

  6. Doorways
We are still waiting to hear whether the program will be available again at Baccalieu this year. In the meantime, counselling services are available through Doorways at the pharmacy in Western Bay.

Appointments can be made by calling Ryan at 598-2470.

  1. Required Course for Athletes
