BCP Weekly Updates: Monday, October 6th, 2025 (DAY 10)

Dear Families,

We hope you had a wonderful weekend. Thank you for taking a few moments to review this week’s updates and important reminders. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Updates and Important Information

  1. District-Wide Closeout Day - The school will be closed for students on Wednesday, October 8th, so staff can participate in Professional Learning.

  2. Thanksgiving
Reminder: There will be no school next Monday, October 13th, for Thanksgiving. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 14th, as Day 1.

  3. Tournament Planning Meeting

We will be holding a planning meeting for our upcoming tournaments tomorrow, Monday, October 6th, at 3:00 PM at the school.  Anyone interested in helping with the planning and organization is welcome to attend!  Your support makes these events possible - we’d love to see you there!

  4. Jamararama Day

On Thursday, October 24th, students and staff are invited to wear their favourite pyjamas to school in support of the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.  Let’s show our school spirit (and our comfiest PJs!) while helping make a difference for children and families across Newfoundland and Labrador.

  5. Dirtbikes & ATVs

We’ve received several concerns from community members about students driving dirt bikes and ATVs recklessly. We ask parents/guardians to take time to speak with your child(ren) about the importance of road safety and the responsible use of these machines. Safe operation protects not only our students but also everyone in the community.  This is not only a safety concern, but a legal one as well.
  6. Sea Cadets Annual Craft Fair

The Sea Cadets will be hosting their annual craft fair on November 16th, from 1-4pm; $2 admittance.  If you are interested in a table, please contact Cindy Burt (709)683-7688 or Lillian Morgan at (709)587-2831.  Thank you for supporting our Cadets!

  7. Personal Electronic Device Policy
As per NLSchool's policy, cell phones and other similar personal devices are not to be seen during class unless permitted by the teacher for learning purposes.

  8. Baccalieu Collegiate Updates Submission - If there's something that you'd like to share with the Baccalieu Collegiate community, please fill out the Google Form: https://forms.gle/i7AJFBqe6uUCfVys8

  9. Doorways

Doorways School Counselling Program is returning to Baccalieu Collegiate.  They have increased their visits to be weekly.  Please see their letter, which discusses the consent to treatment for counsellors.  School DoorWays Program Letter

  10. Lost & Found

Can't find something you brought to school?  Check out our Lost & Found in the lobby.  Still no luck?  Let the office know.

  11. Code of Conduct
Just a reminder that this year, we are introducing an updated Code of Conduct, which includes a demerit system. The intention of this system is to reduce disruptive/harmful behaviours and promote positive behaviours. Please make sure you review this with your child(ren): Code of Conduct

  12. School Allergies - Please be aware that the following foods are prohibited at school due to severe allergies: nuts, fish, shellfish, and eggs.  We have students who may require an EpiPen if exposed to the listed allergens.

  13. Rycor Forms
If you haven't already done so, please fill out the Acceptable Use of Technology, Core Digital Tools Consent, and Media Consent Forms through Rycor for your child(ren).  It is also critical to make sure that you update your demographic information if there have been any changes since last year.

  14. 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets
The 295 Baccalieu Sea Cadets would love to welcome new members! Cadets meet every Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the school. It’s a great opportunity for youth to build skills, make friends, and get involved in their community.

  15. Extra Curricular Schedule
Baccalieu Collegiate offers extracurricular activities, including sports, drama, tutoring/study hall, DND, and more!  Please check our Calendar and our Facebook page for schedules.

  16. Absence / Sign-In / Sign-Out (Family)
We must make attendance a priority for our youth. Consistent attendance is crucial for academic and social success, as it ensures that students are actively engaged and able to fully benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. Please make sure that you sign your child in and out when arriving late/leaving early.
