As we begin a new week of learning and connection, we’re reminded of the energy and spirit that makes our school community so special. With Star Wars Day beyond us—May the 4th be with you!—it’s a great chance to celebrate creativity, curiosity, and the power of imagination in our classrooms. Thank you for your continued support as we guide our students through this important final stretch of the year. Below are a few updates to keep everyone informed.
BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form: A focus at Baccalieu Collegiate in the 2024 school year is to build a strong and connected community. A pillar to building this is effective communication. Volunteer coaches, members of town council, families etc. are invited to share information, events, and/or good news with our BCP community via BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form. Please complete the form to have your news pertinent to students and families shared on our BCP weekly updates email.
Updates and Important Information
Sport Practices: Please check the Baccalieu Collegiate Events Calendar for all the updated sporting events, schedules, and practice times! Jr Boys Basketball practice will be on Monday from 3-4:30. Softball will go ahead Tuesday from 3-4:30 at the Old Perlican ball field. This will be for anyone in grades 7-12 interested in playing. Badminton practice will go ahead on Wednesday from 3-4:30. Sr boys basketball practices this week will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9.
Doorways Visits on Pause: Due to resource considerations, we have to pause School Doorways at Baccalieu for the remainder of the school year. Students are welcome to avail of our service by calling 945-6513 24hrs before they would like an appointment. Services are offered in person, virtually, and by telephone.
Baccalieu Collegiate Close Out Days: Baccalieu will have a close out day on Friday, May 9th 2025 (School Development) and on Friday, May 16th 2025 (Mental Health 1st Aid).
Victoria Day: A reminder that there will be no school on Monday, May 19th 2025 as it is a statutory holiday.
Prom: Baccalieu Collegiate PROM for Grade 12 students is fast approaching Friday, May 30th 2025. All Grade 12's attending should pay their $200 fee through Rycor.
Study Hall: Do not forget every Monday and Wednesday after school until 4:00pm you can go to Mr. Holloway's room to study and gain support with your learning. This is open to any students in Grade 7-12.

Good News Report
- Thank-you Volunteers: Your dedication keeps our KES program running strong each morning and our gym vibrant and active every evening. We’re deeply grateful for the time, energy, and care you give to our school community. Thank you for making a lasting difference!
- Baccalieu Collegiate Boys Ball Hockey Provincials: A huge shout-out to an amazing group of young men. They held themselves with great poise throughout the whole tournament no matter the adversary. They played their hearts out and showed great sportsmanship. What a great weekend of ball hockey with great stewards for Baccalieu Collegiate. We couldn't be more proud of this group of athletes. Congratulations to Tyson Squires on receiving the Sportsmanship award for our team.
- Jr. Boys Basketball: Congrats to our Grade 7-9 boys basketball team on a strong showing at the Grade 9 SSNL Jr. Varsity Regionals! The boys went 2-1 and faced a strong Carbonear Collegiate Grade 9 team in the semi-finals. Huge thanks to Coach Regev for coaching the boys through the very successful showing!
- Washroom Task Oriented Group: Thank-you to our leadership students and other volunteering students who met to view and discuss the washroom management date. We will have another meeting soon to continue the work. - Career Field Trip: Big thanks to the Splash Centre and Career Education 2202 class for a very successful "life skills" trip.
