BCP Family Weekly Updates: Monday, October 21st 2024 (DAY 5)

 Dear Families,

BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form: A focus at Baccalieu Collegiate in the 2024 school year is to build a strong and connected community. A pillar to building this is effective communication. Volunteer coaches, members of town council, families etc.  are invited to share information, events, and/or good news with our BCP community via BCP Weekly Updates Submission Form. Please complete the form to have your news pertinent to students and families shared on our BCP weekly updates email.

4) After School Tutoring: Mr. Holloway's after school tutoring will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 3:00 to 4:00pm. 

5) Drama Practice: Drama practice Monday, October 21st 2024 from 3-4. Please have rides arranged. 

6)  Junior Boys Basketball: Today's parent/guardian meeting for Junior Boys Basketball will be postponed. The meeting will be pushed to the next practice on Monday, October 28th 2024 starting at 4:30pm.

7) Indoor Soccer: Girl's Indoor Soccer: There will be a meeting at recess time tomorrow (Monday Oct. 21st) in the gym for any girl interested in playing indoor soccer. Boy's Indoor Soccer- There will be a practice on Thursday from 3-4pm. 

8) Cross country: Cross country will take place on Monday from 2:55 to 3:25. Please be reminded that the Harvest run takes place this Wednesday.

9) Halloween Dance: Halloween dance on Thursday, October 24 from 7-9pm . Please ensure students are aware of the BCP Dance Conduct

10) Senior girls volleyball Volley fest: On Oct 25 and 26, the senior girls varsity volleyball team will be competing at Volleyfest in St. John’s. Keep an eye on the Senior girls Varsity Volleyball Facebook page to watch and update on the times the girls are playing. Good Luck

11) Softball Update: Due to the low numbers and temperature we will cancel any further softball practices and resume in the Spring.

12) Grade 9 volleyball team: This weekend the grade 9 volleyball team are heading to volley fest friday and saturday 

13) Field Trip: We're happy to announce that our Educational Field Trip to the Geo Centre and MUN Centre for Entrepreneurship is back! This trip will be for Grade 9 and Entrepreneurship students respectively. Families please stay tuned for more information. The trip is scheduled for Monday, October 28th 2024. This trip is made possible by the donation from Greenseafood Ltd.! Thank-you! 

14) Picture Day: Please be advised that Baccalieu Collegiate picture day is Tuesday October 29th 2024.  

15) Sports: Believe it or not, there's more sports and activities happening at Baccalieu! Please see the Baccalieu Events Calendar for up-to-date practice times and tournaments.

16) Did you Know, BCP has a Calming Room: Are you a student losing their cool? Are you feeling overwhelmed? Need to hit the reset button?  Use this time to pause, reflect, and self-regulate. Focus on calming your mind and gaining clarity so you can return to class feeling positive, prepared, and ready to actively engage in learning with your peers. 1) No electronic devices are permitted. They should be placed in your bookbag in the office. 2) Sign-in with someone in the office. 3) Respect the contents/furniture of the room. No vandalism will be tolerated.

17) Reminder -- Absence Form (Family): Child Absent? Complete the form BCP ABSENT FORM without having to call or email the respective homeroom teacher. You can do that too. 

18) Assessment Support Calendar: Please do your best to add assessments to our Assessment Support Calendar. This calendar is shared on our www.baccalieucollegiate.ca site for both students and families to see and support their organization. Additionally, give our IRT team a heads up at your earliest convenience so that they can mobilize effectively to support. 

19) School Allergies: Please be aware that the following foods are prohibited at school due to severe allergies including nuts, fish, shellfish, egg, and pumpkin. 

20) BCP Athletic Shirts and Apparel: Students/Parents/Guardians can now order Baccalieu Predators Athletics shirts through In the Box NL online store. The clothing options include: dri-fit short sleeve, dri-fit long sleeve, crew neck sweatshirt, and hooded sweatshirt all in grey or navy blue. NOTE: For some sports teams you will be asked to order a shirt with a number to be used as a jersey, this will be at the direct instruction of your coach. Do not order a shirt with a number without consulting directly with your coach. BCP Athletic shirts are a quality low cost option for short term sports teams. Good News Report (In no particular order)

• Cross Country: Best of luck to all of our Cross Country runners at the upcoming Harvest Run this Wednesday, October 23rd 2024!
  
• Student Leadership Committee: Congrats to this year's BCP Student Leadership Council  and Committee! 
  
•  Service Delivery Team Meeting: Thank-you Service Delivery Team for taking time out of your busy schedule for meeting. 
  
• Indoor Soccer: Good luck boys and girls in-door soccer squads!
  
• Doorways: Thank-you Doorways for attending to Baccalieu Collegiate
  
• BCP Lighthouse Project Meeting: Congrats and great work to Lighthouse members for doing a great job and representing BCP Proud at the CBC workshop. Thank-you Old Perlican Library for hosting!
• Baccalieu Collegiate Choir: Huge thanks Ms. Sequeira for getting the choir back at Baccalieu. 
• Drama practice: Good luck Drama Troupe participants and thank-you Ms. Reid for leading the way!  
  

• Girls Volleyball: Thank-you to our Girl's Volleyball Volunteer coaches for beginning their respective seasons and providing opportunity for youth involvement and growth of sport.
