BCP Family Weekly Updates: Monday, February 20th 2023 (DAY 11)

Dear Families,

                                            Updates and Important Information

1) Winter Carnival Week: The BCP Winter Carnival Week will continue this week! 


2) Grade 9 Career Modules: Please note that our Career 9 modules have been rescheduled: The schedule is as follows: Lesson 1 -- Ms. Leshane (Complete), Lesson 2 --  Monday, Feb 20, Period 4 (Ms. Sheppard), Lesson 3  --  Monday Feb 20, Period 5 (Mr. Barrett), Lesson 4 -- Tuesday Feb 21, Period 3 (Mr. Adams), Lesson 5 -- Wednesday Feb 22, Period 3 (Ms. Slade)


4) PINK SHIRT DAY: A reminder that Pink Shirt day is this Wednesday, February 22nd 2023. Where pink and support a world without bullying. 


5) Waterloo Math Contest: Please note that Ms. Slade will be administering the Waterloo Math contest for volunteering Grades 9-11 students this Wednesday, February 22nd 2023.  


6) Lions Club Speak off: Please note that a tentative date for the Lions Club Speak off is scheduled for this Thursday, February 23rd 2023. Please see Ms. S Reid, Mr. Adams, and Mr. Barrett for more details. 


7) Girls Volleyball: Grade 8 and the Sr. Girls Volleyball teams will be involved in competitions this coming weekend! Check out our calendar for more details


8) Family School Development Survey: Please click the link and complete our Family School Development Survey before the end of the month. This survey is a very important guide for our school development. Click the link for more information. 


9) PL & Reporting Day: Just to give everyone a heads up. We are scheduled to have our Reporting Morning and PL Afternoon for Monday, March 13th 2023. You can see the other scheduled events in the calendar that might help out your planning. Have a look. 


10) Ronald McDonald House: BCP staff, students and families are invited to bring in their pop pull tabs and place them in the bucket near the lobby. Baccalieu Collegiate will again be collecting pull tabs in support of the Ronald McDonald House. Last year we collected over 3 X 18.5 litre bottles full. Let's beat that number this year! 


11) Assessment Support Calendar: Please do your best to add assessments to our Assessment Support Calendar. This calendar is shared on our www.baccalieucollegiate.ca site for both students and families to see and support their organization. Additionally, give our IRT team a heads up at your earliest convenience so that they can mobilize effectively to support.

Good News Report (In no particular order)
  • Snowball: Huge thank-you to the teachers and students involved in a very successful BCP Snowball dance!!

  • BCP School Clothing: Thank-you Leadership group for sourcing and offering some fresh new BCP apparel. Great work!

  • Career Modules: Big thank-you to the teachers who will be supporting our students' career development in Grade 9!
  • Leadership Group: Huge thanks to our Leadership group for all of their hardwork and tremendous leadership preparing upcoming events such as Winter Carnival week!!!
  • Sports & Other Practices & Events: So many sports and other events going on afterschool. Please check out Baccalieu Calendar for a listing of events and times! Thank-you to all of our students for getting involved and teachers and volunteers for giving up your time for our youth!

BCP Family Weekly Updates: Monday, February 13th 2023 (DAY 6)

Dear Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Happy Guidance Appreciation (carrying over from last week) and Teachers & Staff Appreciation Week this week! Please reach out to your hardworking teachers, staff and our Guidance and send your appreciation to them. Our teachers, staff, and guidance are invested in our school and community like no other!  Thank-you in advance for taking the time to review updates and important reminders!                                                        Updates and Important Information

1) Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week & Canadian School Counselling (last) Week: As mentioned above, this week is Teacher and Staff and Guidance appreciation week at Baccalieu Collegiate! The world is not like it used to be, and it's made a tremendous impact on how we do business in many facets of life. Teachers, staff, and guidance are at the forefront of this change and as a result working harder than ever. Pleaes reach out and send your thanks to our crew. Your appreciation is everything. 


2) BCP School Clothing: Check out our BCP Swag for school clothing. Deadline to order clothing is February 15th 2023. Go to the following link for online order. The order will be delivered to the school and handed out to respective persons. https://bcpapparel.itemorder.com/shop/home/


3) Winter Carnival Week: This is a reminder that our BCP Winter Carnival Week led by our School Leadership is GAME ON! February 13th until the 17th. Looking forward to it! Go BCP Go! Please see our website for homeroom colours and other extra-curricular events. The Semi-Formal Dance is scheduled for Thursday evening! 


4) School Council Meeting: Our School Council meeting will be cancelled. Our next school council meeting will be at its regular schedule for next month (March 7th 2023)


5) Family School Development Survey: Please click the link and complete our Family School Development Survey before the end of the month. This survey is a very important guide for our school development. Click the link for more information. 


6) Grade 9 Career Modules: Due to weather, our Career 9 modules have been rescheduled: The schedule is as follows: Lesson 1 -- Marlene (done with exception of a few students who we will figure out), Lesson 2 -- Monday, Feb 20, Period 4 (Sarah Sheppard), Lesson 3  --  Monday Feb 20, Period 5 (David Barrett), Lesson 4 -- Tuesday Feb 21, Period 3 (Steve Adams), Lesson 5 -- Wednesday Feb 22, Period 3 (Pam Slade). These modules are presented to Grade 9 students to support their development in future planning including course selection for high school.

Good News Report (In no particular order)
  • Mid-Year Report: Big thanks to all the teachers for making the necessary Mid-Year report adjustments for our graduating students!
  • Wellness Day Kickoff: Huge thanks to all the students and staff for making for an amazing day of wellness pratice and learning! Huge thanks to Wanda Green, William Lummis, and Kayla Prosper from Eastern Health for coming in and supporting our students! The day supported not only fun activities but 
  • Career Modules: Big thank-you to the teachers whol will be supporting our students career development in Grade 9!
  • Leadership Group: Huge thanks to our Leadership group for all of their hardwork and tremendous leadership preparing upcoming events such as Winter Carnival week!!!
  • Sr. Boys Basketball: Congrats to the Sr. Boys Basketball team who placed third in the Holy Spirit High tournament. The boys went 2-1 beating Baltimore in the consolation game. 
  • Jr. Boys Basketball: Congrats to our Gr. 8 Junior Boys who competed in the NLBA Provincial B tourn this past weekend. Tremendous showing of spirit and competitive game to come.
  • SHAD: Congrats to Anna March-Mulrooney not only for her acceptance to the SHAD program but also for attaining a full scholarship! Check out the website for more information. We hope Anna will inspire more SHAD applications in the future! https://www.shad.ca/
  • Sr. Girls Volleyball: Congrats to our Senior Girls Volleyball team who placed 2nd in the girls 17U NLVA Provincal Volleyball Championships tournament this past weekend!

BCP Family Weekly Updates: Monday, February 6th 2023 (DAY 1)

 Dear Families,

                                           Updates and Important Information

1) Grade 9 Career Modules: Please note this week teachers will be implementing the Career 9 modules in their classes. The schedule is as follows: (Lesson 1, Day 1, Period 1: Marlene Leshane), (Lesson 2, Day 2, Period 1: Sarah Sheppard), (Lesson 3, Day 2, Period 2: David Barrett), (Lesson 4, Day 4, Period 1: Steven Adams), (Lesson 5, Day 5, Period 1: Pam Slade). Thank-you teachers for taking this one!


2) Wellness Day Kickoff:  The CSH team in cooperation with our student leadership team will be having a Wellness Day Kickoff on Wednesday, February 8th 2023. The day will include powerful information for our youth! There will be a working session from Wanda Green (Eastern Health) teaching students how to use Bridge the Gapp! There will presentation from Kayla Prosper and William Lummis from Eastern Health on Social Media and Technology Use: What should you know. Furthermore, the day will include work with our students on impact of vaping; optional wellness stations lead by our teachers, and some short Panel discussions to hear student voices on topics important to them. 


3) School Council Meeting: Our next School Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7th 2023 at 6:30pm


4) Mid-Year Report: Grade 12's will be issued Mid-Year Reports for post-secondary application purposes this Friday, February 10th 2023. 


5) Family School Development Survey: Please click the link and complete our Family School Development Survey before the end of the month. These surveys are important to guide our school development. Click the link for more information. 


6) Winter Carnival Week: This is a reminder that our BCP Winter Carnival Week led by our School Leadership is fast approaching from February 13th until the 17th. Looking forward to it! Stand by for a schedule of events. Please see facebook for invitations to events outside of school hours. Please note permission to attend extra-curricular events is a privilege. Students with any office referrals due to inappropriate behaviour may not be permitted to attend. Notification will be made to those students.

  • Career Modules: Big thank-you to the teachers implementing our Career 9 modules for students this week! 
  • Leadership Group: Huge thanks to our Leadership group for all of their hardwork and tremendous leadership preparing upcoming events such as Winter Carnival week!!!
