Reminder – No Use of Recreational Vehicles on School Property

 To: Baccalieu Collegiate Families

From: Mr. Jeff Saxby, Principal
Date: April 30 2025
Subject: Reminder – No Use of Recreational Vehicles on School Property

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to remind everyone of an important school safety policy regarding the operation of recreational vehicles on school grounds.

Recently, we observed a student operating an ATV on school property. While we understand that many students and families in our community use ATVs, snowmobiles, and dirt bikes for transportation or recreation, it is important to note that students are not permitted to operate these vehicles on school property at any time.

This policy is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, staff, and visitors to our school. Recreational vehicles can pose significant safety risks, especially during busy school hours when there is a high volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Additionally, the noise and potential damage to school grounds are also concerns.

Our school is committed to building a safe and caring environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and community well-being. We ask for your support in reinforcing this message at home with your child(ren), and ensuring that these vehicles are not used on or near school property during the school day or at school events.

If a student is observed operating an ATV or similar vehicle on school grounds, appropriate follow-up will occur, which may include a call home and a review of safety expectations with the student and their family.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Warm regards,
Mr. Jeff Saxby
Principal, Baccalieu Collegiate
