Survey - Study of accessibility to services for people who stutter (PWS) in NL.

 Dear Mr. Saxby

My name is Katelyn Mayo and I am writing on behalf of Dr. Paul De Decker, an Associate Professor of Linguistics at Memorial University.

We are requesting your assistance in sharing with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and parents of students who attend Baccalieu Collegiate, a research survey we have developed to study accessibility to services for people who stutter (PWS) in NL. This is a collaborative study with the Newfoundland and Labrador Stuttering Association. We have received permission from the NLESD and the Interdisciplinary Committee on Ethics in Human Research at Memorial University.  Both approval letters are attached here.

More information about the study is available at our website: https://nlsacollaborative.ca/research/2021/03/26/survey-barriers-accessibility.html

We would be grateful if this notice could be distributed via channels available to you at Baccalieu Collegiate in order to recruit three categories of participants:

1. SLPs and others who provide clinical treatment to people who stutter

2. People who stutter (PWS)

3. Parents or caregivers of people who stutter

Copies of each survey can be accessed via the following links:

We understand that this is a busy time of year but if you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. We hope that this research will lead to improved access to services for PWS and help early childhood educators, teachers, parents, and speech language pathologists in their ability to assist people who stutter in NL.

Sincerely,

Katelyn Mayo
