She Connects

Hello,

My name is Frankie Leonard, and I am currently a mentor with the She Connects initiative. She Connects is a new startup founded in January 2020 by 4 former Daughters of the Vote Delegates. They were given a small leadership grant from the program to start a community-based project.

The organization aims to facilitate mentorship between girls in high school and women who have recently graduated/are in their 20s. Each mentee will be matched with a mentor who is there to help guide them through the transition out of high school. Areas of guidance can include questions about the university, gap years, the workforce, mental health, womanhood, and leadership.

I graduated from Mealy Mountain Collegiate in 2016 and mentorship it is something I wish I had more access to in high school. I completed a Bachelor of Science from Memorial University and am currently a first-year law student at the Schulich School of Law. I signed up to be a mentor with She Connects after attending Daughters of the Vote and seeing this great initiative come to life from fellow participants. I hope to encourage other young women to strive for success after high school.

I am reaching out in hopes that you will consider promoting this program to your grade 10-12 female students. We are accepting mentee applications for the 2021-2022 school year. More information and the application can be found on our website https://www.sheconnects.ca/

If you have any additional questions, please contact me or email info@sheconnects.ca

Additional resources for teachers can also be found at https://www.sheconnects.ca/teachers-resources

I have attached a poster that can be displayed online or around the school below.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Best,

Frankie Leonard
